Asbestos can be found in materials in homes built before the 1970s. Some places where it may be found include roofing, shingles, and siding; however, these areas will not release dangerous asbestos unless they are cut into. Asbestos also may be found in certain types of floor tiles or vinyl flooring. Again, asbestos will only be released if the tiles are sanded or scraped during floor removal.
